Musings on movies, TV, comedy, photography, and living with boobs and without spatial/motor/social skills in America.
Favrd started all of this.
I started Tweeting in January 2009. At first maybe once a week, then gradually more. I found hilarious, amazing people to follow, mostly just by browsing the follow lists of a few greats like badbanana and hotdogsladies. From there, I discovered Favrd.
I wish I could say it was some transcendent, amazing experience, but it wasn’t. Why? Because I was too late. There was already a community there, a group of friends, and it wasn’t really open to newbies. That’s not to say that the people using it were deliberately clique-ish, but who’s going to notice some random new girl with 75 followers and no stars?
By the time I started to get traction, Favrd shut down. And that was it. I never got to love it. I never got to be a part of it. There are people who will probably never follow me because I wasn’t there when I needed to be.
In the end, it’s my fault. I was late to the game, and that’s that. But I can’t deny that I feel left out sometimes, because to some of you, no matter how long I play with the band, I’ll always just be one of those second-fiddle musicians who joined Queen after Freddie Mercury died.
much more off-putting it was to someone not as tweetishly hilarious as Rachel. Favrd may have started it, but
